In a week when your friendly school bus driver turned out to be the exiled Prime Minister of East Turkistan, and a couple of other young Turks got banned from Britain (see if you can guess which country they criticized. Clue: It wasn’t Britain), Musletter hung up its Arsenal thobe and chilled like the buffalo with the Trump comb-over that got spared from Eid sacrifice.

Here’s what we have for you in this edition:

  • Global content summit: Big names assemble

  • Uzbekistan ecosystem: World-class startup hub

  • Muslim Hallmark: Building an alternative in NYC

  • Saudi PIF: Is KSA consolidating its mega-fund?

THE RUNDOWN
Here’s the scoop on everything you need to know

🎬 Muslim media grows up: Had enough of nasheed + sunset + ramblings about gratitude? Thought so. The Global Muslim Content Summit (GMC) aims to change that. Organized by OnePath Network, the event will host a whole bunch of media types (creators, journos, filmmakers) and big names from over 40 countries for two days of workshops and masterclasses. And it’s got some pretty major players: Omar Suleiman, Lauren Booth, Thinking Muslim founder Muhammad Jalal. With the goal of ‘Building the Future of Muslim Media’ (okay, that might take more than a couple of days), it’s doing important work: reclaiming the online Muslim narrative before someone else does. Istanbul, July 11-12. Get your tickets here.

🇺🇿 Uzbekistan is a booming startup hub: Central Asia is the world's fastest-growing startup ecosystem. You heard that right. The region expanded by 81% over the past year, with Uzbekistan the standout performer boasting a 227% increase. Named Country of the Year 2026 for startups, its capital city, Tashkent, is home to IT Park Uzbekistan, which houses 527 companies and received $618.4 million in funding over the last decade. So, should you relocate? The Uzbekistan government certainly thinks so – offering zero income tax, zero corporate tax, and zero social tax, as well as a regulatory sandbox and new visa pathways for foreigners. The ICT Uzbekistan Conference is in September – worth a visit?

📨 Making a Muslim Hallmark: You’re en route to your in-laws with a nice Eid gift, but you need some gift wrap, maybe a card, or just that little something to finish it off. And all the supermarket has is a card with ‘Congratulations on your new dog!’ on the front. This is why New York-based Sana Raheem founded Mubarak and Co (formerly The Ramadan Edit). Her goal is to fill that gap for Muslim consumers. After testing at small fairs and retail locations, Raheem is now expanding the brand, with her products stocked at US retailers including HomeGoods and Michaels.

🇸🇦 KSA adapts to disruptions: Saudi Arabia has been doing some thinking. And it appears it will take its massive sovereign wealth fund (known as the Public Investment Fund – or PIF) and the $1 trillion it contains and do some major consolidation. This could mean combining its ports, rail and shipping assets into a single logistics company. Why do this now? It’s part of an effort to shore up the country’s position as a regional trade hub, but it’s also prompted by supply chain disruptions caused by the war in Iran (although it’s noteworthy that Saudi oil export revenue hit a three-year high of $24.7 billion when the conflict started). There is also talk of a possible public offering for the fund.

🇦🇪 UAE autonomous delivery: CargoX has raised $250 million in a funding round led by Abu Dhabi’s BlueFive Capital. The company develops driverless logistics vehicles that can operate across the entire logistics chain. That means last-mile, middle-mile – all kinds of miles! From local to long-distance, the company is already collaborating with transport authorities in the Emirates, trialing operations on public roads. It is eventually planning commercial operations in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The cash injection will fund expansion not only within the UAE but also internationally.
